Teachers: Neil Sigmon and Gina Simpson
Architecture and Energy Engineering Design will be taught in the Center for Energy Efficient Design building at The Gereau Center. In this module, students will begin to understand how humans influence Earth's environment due to architectural and engineering endeavors and energy usage.
Students will solve a variety of engineering and architectural problems. The energy engineering topics are based in an understanding of the sources and conversions of energy sources for use by humans, modalities of energy consumption for transportation, electricity and housing, and solutions to pressing energy and environmental problems. Students will explore various career opportunities in the field of architectural design. Specific activities will include scale drawing and modeling both by hand and digitally. Students will have to design and sell house proposals that meet the needs of clients by acting as architects, interior designers, and realtors throughout the process.
